Flute Choir Camp is a summer music camp for flutists near Montrose, CA who want to meet other flutists, learn flute ensemble music, or try out another instrument in the flute family. It is directed by local flute teacher, Jennifer Kennedy.
In the summer of 2026, Kennedy Flute Studio will be offering two 5-day Flute Choir Camp sessions. Each will cover unique music, so registering for both sessions is highly encouraged. Flute Choir Camp is open to children and adults. No prior flute choir experience is required, but two years playing experience is recommended.
Flute Choir Camp is about more than just flute playing. Focused on the importance of curiosity and camaraderie in musical learning, Flute Choir Camp uses musical games to encourage risk-taking and creativity, guided warm-ups to develop musicianship, and structured rehearsals to teach disciplined practice without self-judgment or frustration. Participants learn to take mistakes in stride, tackle each challenge with an open mind, and work together to create music that’s both joyful and beautiful.

Starting in 2022, Kennedy Flute Studio has hosted Flute Choir Camps annually, offering multiple one-week sessions each summer in Monterey County (where the studio was previously based). In 2024, Kennedy Flute Studio Flute Choir Camps presented performances at Wendi Kirby Music and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Monterey. In 2025, two performances were presented at Wendi Kirby Music in Monterey. In 2026, Flute Choir Camp is starting a new chapter in Southern California.
WHAT IS FLUTE CHOIR?
Flute choir is an ensemble consisting of all different kinds of flutes (piccolos, C flutes, alto flutes, and bass flutes). Flute choir is a great place to meet other flutists, build community, and learn a lot! Playing in small ensembles is one of the best ways to learn from not just a conductor or teacher, but from the players around you. Plus, it's an opportunity to play the unusual auxiliary flutes, which we don't have the chance to do almost anywhere else. I highly encourage everyone to participate!
WHAT DOES FLUTE CHOIR CAMP LOOK LIKE & INCLUDE?
At Flute Choir Camp:

$300 per student will cover:
- 2 hours of daily group instruction
- Flute Choir Camp T-shirt
- Sheet music and folders
- Rehearsal and concert space rental fees
- Low flute rental fees
